What We Love About the Body Champ Cardio Dual Trainer:
The Body Champ® BRM 3671 Cardio Dual Trainer is an exercise bike and an elliptical machine in one. With one purchase, you are instantly expanding your home gym. One of the best features of this machine is that it provides heart rate monitoring, which is sometime not provided on entry-level exercise equipment.
2-in-1 Design
The obvious advantage to this machine is that you are essentially getting two pieces of exercise equipment for one price. The variety of two machines creates an enjoyable experience and keeps you motivated to exercise. Having two distinctively different exercises also allows you to workout different muscle groups for a full body workout. This may be the machine for indecisive consumers who are unsure what type of exercise equipment they should buy. It’s also a good machine for users who are on a budget and can’t spend a whole lot of money on multiple pieces of exercise equipment.
Heart Rate Monitoring
The Body Champ Cardio Dual Trainer provides heart rate monitoring in its stationary handlebars. This is a great option in that you can monitor your heart rate and ensure you have a good intensity for a solid workout. Even better this machine comes with pre-programmed heart rate programs in the computer. By doing this, Body Flex Sports has taken most of the guess work out and provided you with an intense workout based on heart rate output.
Other Considerations:
No Incline
With the Body Champ Cardio Dual Trainer you get two combined machine types, but both aspects have pretty basic options. The biggest feature missing for the elliptical aspect is the ability to incline. Even entry level elliptical machines will generally provide a manual option for incline. Inclining the machine provides a higher intensity level to your exercises. It also works different muscle groups for a fuller body workout, so we’d love to see that feature added in the future.
Shorter Stride Length
At 14”, this Cardio Dual Trainer doesn’t accommodate a huge range of bodies. Typically, the shortest strides on elliptical machines are 18-20”. Some higher end models even provide 22” strides. The obvious reason for the short stride on this machine is so that it could accommodate both functions as an exercise bike and an elliptical machine. Even so, taller users are going to have a difficult time while using the machine as an elliptical due to this short stride.
Less Comfort Features
In a budget-friendly, entry-level exercise machine you often get no frills. That’s the case with the Body Flex Sports Body Champ® BRM 3671 Cardio Dual Trainer. This machine provides no fan, which is always a nice option. It provides no iPod® or MP3 connection. Furthermore, it doesn’t provide a water bottle holder. While these are only conveniences, you will surely miss them when you’re trying to extend your exercises for a good workout.
Final Word on the Body Champ Cardio Dual Trainer:
At around $399.99, this Body Champ Cardio Dual Trainer from Body Flex Sports is a strong buy. Even better, with a quick search on Amazon you can often find this machine cheaper, around the $240 range. The best part of this machine is obvious – it’s an exercise bike and an elliptical machine, but for one price. Like with everything in life, when two things are coming together, there have to be some compromises so that you can get good performance from both, especially when it comes in at a rock bottom price.
