Overview:
It might not be for everyone, but the Golds Gym Elliptical 310 Stride Trainer is a very reasonably priced exercise machine with some nice features designed to help keep you motivated and consistently working out at home. Most notably, the console has a nice group of pre-loaded workouts at the touch of a button. These workouts are all designed to give you a good, intense workout. The Golds Gym Elliptical 310 also offers heart rate monitoring, digital resistance, and some convenience features like a water bottle holder and transport wheels for easy movement and storage. Despite the nice features, at this price range, we’d lean toward leveling up to a hybrid trainer (and we have suggestions below). But for now, we’ll get deeper into the stability and quality of the Golds Gym Elliptical in our full elliptical review.

What We Like About the Golds Gym Elliptical 310:
Programmed Workouts
The pre-programmed workouts on the Golds Gym Elliptical 310 are a great feature at this price. Usually when you buy an entry-level elliptical machine you’re looking at a console with basic readouts and a scan function. These workouts are nice for a novice person because it takes the guess work out of your exercise routine. All you need to do is jump on, punch in one of these workouts and you’re sure to get a good, intense workout. You’ll be burning calories fast and dropping weight quickly.
Heart Rate Monitoring
Along with the pro-programmed workouts, the heart rate monitoring on the Golds Gym Elliptical 310 is also an excellent feature. If you want a little freedom to your workouts, heart rate training is a good change-up. It also provides the best and most intense workouts. It takes a little bit of calculating to figure out your target heart rate zone, but once you do that you can really start burning some calories fast. The dual grips transfer your pulse rate to the console where you can monitor it throughout your workout and stay in that fat burning zone.
What Isn’t So Great about this Golds Gym Elliptical:
Design
Some users report that the elliptical might become squeaky over time. Also, the warranty at 90 days isn’t that reassuring. The Stride Trainer 310 Elliptical is definitely designed for someone who might not use the machine all that often.
Stride
At only 14”, this stride length isn’t going to accommodate very many people or provide very much intensity. Preferably, a person in search of an elliptical should look for an adjustable stride from 18-22”. This will accommodate nearly everyone. At 14”, most people are not going to be able to get a fully extended stride to get a good lower body workout. You’re definitely going to feel restricted with the elliptical movement.
Final Word on the Golds Gym Elliptical 310:
At around $300, the Golds Gym Elliptical 310 Stride Trainer is an OK entry-level elliptical for someone just getting started in fitness. It has some handy features like heart rate monitoring and pre-programmed workouts that will provide you with some really good exercises. However, there may be some quality issues with this elliptical and its minimal stride length is not ideal. We’d recommend taking a look at the ProForm Hybrid Trainer and the Body Rider BRD2000 Elliptical Trainer with Seat. They’re quality trainers in this price range, and also feature dual elliptical plus recumbent/exercise bike workouts.
