The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE is fairly straight forward to assemble. The instructions are written better than on some other home gyms. Bowflex provides a couple Allen wrenches to help you along, but you’ll also need a few adjustable wrenches, screwdrivers and maybe a rubber mallet of your own. If you’re good at this kind of stuff, the process could take you around 3 hours. If assembly isn’t your thing, then it might take closer to 5 hours.

Bowflex Xtreme 2-SE Home Gym ReviewWhat We Love About the Bowflex Xtreme 2SE Home Gym:

Overall Experience

The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym is a top of the line home gym. It is well built and comes from a reputable manufacturer in the fitness industry. At 185 lbs, this gym is solid and is going to stay grounded during all of your pushing and pulling. The resistance rods provide a nice, smooth resistance while pushing and pulling. You don’t get jerky movements or sudden stops like you do with weight stacks or smith-style machines. Another nice thing with the system is that you get resistance with force and delivery of the exercise movement. You’re practically doubling your exercises with each movement. With the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym you’ll start seeing results quickly.

The Bowflex Power Rod® units on the Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym give you the same feel of free weights while reducing injury risk dramatically. You’ll feel the resistance in your every action throughout your exercises. The rods provide up to 210 lbs of resistance without the inertia and in a smooth movement. If you think 210 lbs will just not do, the Bowflex Xtreme 2SE Home Gym is upgradeable to 310 lbs or even 410 lbs.

Bowflex Xtreme 2-SE Home Gym ReviewOther Considerations:

Resistance Life

The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym uses rods as a resistance system. Bowflex touts this system because it provides resistance throughout the motion. That means you’ll feel the effort while you press and release or when you pull and release. The main issue we’ve seen with this resistance system however is that with the constant bending, the rods will slowly lose elasticity and the resistance will be reduced. The Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym comes equipped with 210 lbs of resistance with upgrades available to 310 lbs and 410 lbs. Many users say that after just two years of use, the resistance has significantly decreased. Additionally, while Bowflex offers a lifetime warranty on the resistance rods, it does not cover normal wear and tear. You will need to buy new rods on your own.

Final Word on the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym:

If you’re specifically looking for a Bowflex or resistance rod home gym, the Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym is an amazing choice. This home gym is well made and is going to be a staple in your home for a long time. The smooth, fluid movement of the exercises is tough to beat and very easy on the joints. Highly recommended.
