powerline-p2x-home-gym-machineOverview:

The Powerline P2X Home Gym from Body-Solid is an innovative, compact, quality home gym that combines form and function with versatility and value. This gym adds functional pulleys to a traditional home gym platform, allowing users to perform a variety of exercises that recruit stabilizer muscles to exercise movement, such as pec flys and converging press. The gym has two different workout stations designed to focus on specific muscles for ultimate growth and sculpting. The press station utilizes three pairs of grip handles enabling you to work muscles groups from various angles for a thorough workout. You can perform chest, incline and shoulder presses, and you can develop your middle and lower lats.

*Note, for a few hundred dollars more, you can get the version that includes a leg-press component and you can see that review here.

The Body-Solid Powerline P2X Home Gym is the best of all worlds, combining functional and traditional exercises in a versatile design that gives you the free range of motion to get a total body workout in a compact size. Powerline backs this complete home gym with a 10 year frame warranty and one year warranty for all other parts.

What We Love About the Powerline P2X Home Gym:powerline-p2x-home-gym-machine-fitness

Multiple Workout Stations

The nice thing about the Body-Solid Powerline P2X Home Gym is that it is designed to target specific muscles for superior workouts. The press station high and mid-range pulleys along with the press to provide tons of workouts. You can work out your pectorals from multiple angles; you can work out your shoulders; or you can work out your back and lats. This station is as versatile as any we’ve seen on any home gym. While in this position you can also utilize the leg extension/curl attachment. There is also another lower pulley station where you can do rows, curls or a variety of other workouts. You’ll definitely be able to pinpoint any muscle that you’re trying to work with the Powerline P2X Home Gym.

Other Considerations:

Weight Stack

The main drawback of the Powerline Px2 Home Gym is the 160 lb weight stack. In this price range, this is pretty typical unless you’re willing to move to a resistance rod home gym. Machines like the Bowflex Blaze Gym or Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym can provide resistance over 300 or 400 lbs. Honestly 160 lbs isn’t a whole lot of weight. Powerline does offer a 50 lb upgrade for another $110, but 210 lbs may not even be enough weight for someone who is a little more advanced.

Lower Body Workoutpowerline-p2x-home-gym-fitness-machine

Like most home gyms in this price range, the Powerline P2X Home Gym does not provide a complete lower body workout. You can do leg curls and extensions, but there really aren’t any strong exercises for the upper leg. There’s no way to work your hamstrings and quads in a way that those large muscles need to be worked. The P2X Home Gym does have an option to attach a leg press to the machine that will provide these exercises though. Again, if you’re looking for a complete body workout, you can check out the review of the Powerline PX2 Home Gym with Leg Press on our site.

Final Word on the Body-Solid Powerline P2X Home Gym:

The Powerline P2X is a really good choice for a personal home gym. You’re not going to find many, if any, home gyms that utilize weight stacks and also provide multiple workout stations. Our biggest let down with this machine is that it only provides 160 lbs of resistance. Powerline does provide a 50 lb upgrade, but if you’re in the hunt for significantly more weight in this price range, you’re going to have to look elsewhere.  Recommended.
