*Update: It seems that Big Mike’s Fitness is no longer operational and/or they’re no longer making the Delux Doorway Pull Up Bar. We recommend looking at the Sunny Health and Fitness Pull Up Bar instead. Click here for our full review.
The Big Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar is (was) a telescoping bar made from extra heavy-duty steel and two sets of mounting brackets to make sure it isn’t going anywhere. The Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar also has rubber ends to help it stay tight and secure. It has a big maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs.
In addition to being able to do the typical chin ups and pull ups, this bar can also be mounted lower on the doorframe. In this position, you can use the bar to secure your feet for sit ups or crunches. For these exercises you don’t really need to use the mounting brackets. All you need to do put the bar in place and the rubber ends will provide enough support to hold your feet in place. However, if you choose to use one of the two sets of mounting brackets in this position, you could feel safe also using the bar as a push up prop. The versatility of what appears to be a simple door pull-up bar is understated in the Bike Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar.
- Extra heavy-duty chrome plated steel bar with soft foam grips for comfort
- Fully adjustable to fit nearly any doorway
- Includes screw-in brackets for safe and secure mounting
- Supports weight up to 300 lbs
- Width: 24” to 36” wide
- Chin Up (Reverse Grip)
- Pull Up (Over Hand Grip)
- Sit Ups
Assembly and Installation:
The Bike Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar is simple to install. The bar can basically be taken out of the box and put into the doorframe without any mounting brackets. If you feel a little uneasy without any support, or toward the top range of its 300 lb maximum weight limit, the bar comes with two sets of mounting brackets. These brackets can easily be installed with the provided screws in a matter of minutes.

What We Love About the Big Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar
One of the best features of the Big Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar is that it is a very strong bar and is going to take the abuse that you dish out. Also, it fits just about any doorway up to 36” wide. You can mount this bar up high for the normal exercises, but you can also use this bar down low on the doorframe to use it as a support for sit-ups and crunches. No need to mount down low, as the bar has rubber ends to make sure it stays in place for the support you need for these exercises.
What Isn’t So Great About the Deluxe Doorway Pull Up Bar
It’s a common problem with this type of pull up bar, but the biggest drawback of the Big Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar is that if you want to get the full support of this bar, you’re going to have to mount it, which results in some small holes in your doorframe. If you’re looking at this type of bar design, you already know that. A few users stated that the bar doesn’t fit 24” doorframes as the description says. Users report that the minimum doorway is actually about 25.5”-26”.
Final Word on the Big Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar
Overall, the Big Mike’s Fitness Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar is quality bar that is a little more expensive than other bars with this simple telescoping design. That said, this bar is great in that it is very strong and fits doors up to 36”, so it’s worth a look.
