What We Love About the Stamina Multi-level Magnetic Resistance Rowing Machine (Model 1110):
The Little Touches Make a Big Difference
It may not seem like a lot, but the added water bottle holder is just such a huge benefit to this rowing machine without jacking the price up. Some other fine touches, such as the upgraded seat for comfort and the pivoting foot pedals also make this rower stand out among competitors.
It is Lighter Than Many Similarly-Sized Rowing Machines
Even with wheels, many rowing machines are just too heavy to easily move from one place to another. In addition, the heavier machines may not be as easy to lift up on its end for storage. At just 45 pounds, the 1110 model is sturdy and stable in use but still light enough to move as needed.
Smooth And Natural Movements
All of the cup holders in the world will not make up for a rowing machine that is not easy to row or is too loud or to jerky to continue with. With smooth, aluminum rails and the bonus feature of ball bearing rollers under the seat, the 1110 model gives trainees the gliding motion of real rowing without the jerking, shoulder destroying issues found in other machines.
What Isn’t so Great:
Limited Use
There are only eight levels of resistance with the 1110 model and no preset programs, no goal programs and nothing that could challenge trainees once they have mastered the rowing motion and have progressed through all of the resistance levels.
Rowing is a good workout, but it can become monotonous after a while, and may lose its appeal with some time.
Very Basic Monitor
If you want a higher end monitor, this is not the model for you. Not only does it look low-tech, it is limited in is abilities. If you need heart-rate monitoring, or a more accurate calorie counter, you would do better with your own heart rate monitor so that you get the accurate metrics that you need.
Size Limitations
If you are a heavy or very tall trainee, the 1110 model is not the right choice for you. Not only does it have the industry standard 250-pound weight limit, with a 43 inch side rail, the height of the trainee is going to quickly become an issue as well. Other users have mentioned measuring legs from the inseam to determine whether this machine would be suitable. The given range of motion may also be a consideration here for the shorter trainee.
How the Stamina Multi-level Magnetic Resistance Rowing Machine (Model 1110) Compares to the 1130 Model
The 1130 model is well over $100 more expensive than the 1110 model, with very few real differences in size or capacity. However, it does outperform the 1110 model with the monitor and the programs that are available. The monitor on the 1130 is an LCD backlit monitor with included heart rate monitor chest strap that syncs wirelessly to the monitor. It has 16 levels of resistance and nearly 30 overall programs.
The 1130 model has the same basic dimensions and the same height and weight limitations as the 1110 model. Unless you are fully dedicated to rowing as your main workout type, the added expense for additional programs may not be worth it.
Final Word on the Stamina Multi-level Magnetic Resistance Rowing Machine:
The 1110 model has incredible value for its price, even with its height and weight limitations. Average sized trainees, especially those who are new to rowing, will appreciate the smooth riding experience, and that it stores securely on its end when not in use. The addition of the water bottle is a great touch and will make trainees feel like they are at the gym as well.
