Sunny SF-RW 5639 Rowing Machine (350 lb Capacity) Overview:
The Sunny Health and Fitness SF-RW 5639 Full Motion Rowing Machine is comparable to other home rower models from this company with one key difference: The SF-RW model has an added weight capacity of 350 pounds, whereas the similar models can only handle between 220 and 300 pounds. Several of the models use the same hydraulic cylinder resistance, while the company does offer one model that uses magnetic resistance instead.
This rowing machine has twelve easy-to-adjust levels of resistance with independent arms and large, non-slip foot pedals that tilt as you row. Adjustable foot straps give you additional security so that you never have to worry about your feet sliding off in the middle of an intense workout.

Shipping and Assembly:
Shipping may depend on where you order from with free shipping as an option on some sites. A smaller rower, this ships at just under 40 pounds and can be handled by the average person without too much hassle. There are other shipping options, but some of those may raise the price of this rowing machine substantially.
Assembly is not overly complex, and most users will be able to handle putting this machine together in an hour or two using common household tools. Professional assembly is available in some cases but costs nearly as much as the machine itself.
What we Love about the Sunny Health and Fitness SF-RW 5639 Full Motion Rowing Machine:
Higher Weight Capacity
For most rowing machines, the maximum weight stops at 300 pounds and often it is much lower than that. This model understands that the larger person might want the ease of a rowing workout but may not want to have to go to a gym to get it.
Adjustability
To adjust the level of resistance on this rowing machine you simply turn a knob. There are twelve options to choose from making this a great choice for someone who has never tried rowing before.
Comfort
In addition to adjustable resistance, this rowing machine gives the user comfortable handles, anti-slip foot pedals and a large, cushioned seat to prevent unnecessary pressure and pain.
Other Considerations:
Storage Options
This rowing machine, while not huge, does not fold for storage. You can prop it up against a wall but that may not be your most secure option.
Not Easy To Transport
Unlike other rowing machines, this model does not have wheels for portability. While it is not overly heavy at just over thirty pounds, that does not make it convenient, especially if it needs to be moved to and from storage every time that you want to use it.
Low Height
By design, rowing machines sit close to the ground and the SF-RW 5639 is not exception. At just fourteen inches high, it does take some flexibility to get on and off of the seat of this machine. For someone who is not very fit or flexible or someone with bad knees, this might be too much of a strain.
Resistance May Not be Enough for Intermediate to Experienced Rowers
If you are looking for a rower to move you to the next level, this may not be the machine for you. Yes, there are twelve levels of resistance, but even at the upper most level there may not be enough resistance for someone who is very fit, strong or experienced. This is definitely a beginner’s rowing machine.
How the SF-RW 5639 Compares to the RW 5619:
Both of these machines are very similar in price with only a dollar or two difference. Both have the same twelve levels of resistance and dual handles. The siderails on the RW 5619 are slightly longer making it better for people who are a little taller however, it has a much lower maximum weight level at 220 lbs. The SF-RW 5639 is listed for a maximum weight of 350 lbs. Both machines weigh about the same, and neither has wheels for easy portability. The 5619 is much lower to the ground making it even more problematic for people who may not be able to get on and off a machine this low without a struggle.
The SF-RW 5639 does not have individually adjustable handles like the RW 5619.
Final Word on the Sunny Health and Fitness SF-RW 5639 Full Motion Rowing Machine
It is amazing that Sunny Health and Fitness increased the weight capacity on several of their rowing machines including this one which goes all the way up to 350 lbs. This allows heavier people to get the exercise they want without having to struggle with self-esteem issues at a gym or pay the higher costs of a private health club. It also allows people of all fitness levels and sizes to workout at home. Rowing is one of the most effective exercise types especially with the capability to increase and decrease resistance levels as needed. While it does not have wheels to allow it to be moved from one place to another, it is light enough to be moved without a struggle. It is a good price for a smaller machine, and solidly built at that, despite the lower price tag.
