Shipping and Assembly:
Shipping costs will vary for the Velocity Exercise Vantage Programmable Rower depending on where you purchase from and what type of delivery you prefer. However, some retailers, such as Amazon.com, will provide free shipping.
The Vantage Programmable Rower comes with an illustrated assembly manual that is fairly easy to follow. There are not descriptions to go with each step, but the illustrations are easy to understand. Additionally, they provide a couple tools to help in the process, but you may need to use your own wrenches and screwdrivers to complete the process. Even so, a single person can easily assembly this rowing machine in about an hour.
What We Love About the Velocity Exercise Vantage Programmable Rower:
Heart Rate Monitoring
The best feature of the Vantage Programmable Rower is its ability to do heart rate monitoring. First, they include a chest strap with the purchase of the machine. This is a nice thing to considering other more expensive models fail to provide straps. The computer console also has four programmed heart rate workouts. These programs are great for working on fat loss, and cardiovascular or anaerobic improvement. Each of these has a different heart rate zone that you want exercise within and the Vantage Programmable Rower has a program for each. There is also the ability to create your own target heart zone if you don’t like these presets.
Don’t get us wrong, Velocity Exercise provides a good computer console on the Vantage Programmable Rower, but it could be even better. As we said we like the heart rate monitoring capabilities and we equally like the race program and the other 12 programmed workouts on the console. However, besides working out in these programs, there is no way to track your improvement from workout to workout. There is no way to download workout statistics or connect to third party software to analyze your rowing and fitness improvement. Unfortunately, when you drop into this price zone, you’ll find this is a common drawback.
Another disappointment with the Velocity Exercise Vantage Programmable Rower is its warranty. They provide a five year warranty on the aluminum frame, which is basically standard for most manufacturers, but from there the coverage goes downhill. They offer a 90 day warranty on the monitor that scares us a little considering that when something goes wrong on a piece of exercise equipment, a lot of the times it’s the console. If that’s not scary enough they only back the rest of the parts on the Vantage Programmable Rower for 30 days.
Final Word on the Velocity Exercise Vantage Programmable Rower:
Coming in under $1,000, the Vantage Programmable Rower is a good rowing machine. It combines air and magnetic resistance, offering the user 16 different levels of intensity. It also has a good computer console with excellent heart rate monitoring capabilities. Velocity Exercise also throws a chest strap monitor in with you initial purchase. That being said, we would have liked it even more if you could download and track workout statistics and if Velocity Exercise provided a little better warranty for the Vantage Programmable Rower.
