The Merax Folding Electric Treadmill is in the lower price range for this style of machines and makes it easy to have the best budget treadmill even if you do not have dedicated space for it. Being fairly light, it is easy to move when needed and sets up quickly. It makes very low noise when in use so it’s okay for apartment dwellers or those who are fans of using a treadmill while watching television. It has a pretty decent range as far as available speeds go, as well as three incline levels to choose from. It also has three preset workout programs that can help you reach your goals.
Not overly huge, the Merax Folding treadmill still has the safety features you need (emergency stop button) and a pretty decent monitor with heart rate sensing capability.

Shipping and Assembly
While the Merax is in the lower price range for folding, electric treadmills, most people would still prefer to have free shipping. There are plenty of sellers to comparison shop with, so you should be able to find free or at least pretty low cost shipping. At only 60 pounds, this is not a bad item to pick up at a store if you can only find ship to store for free. The box is not overly bulky and should fit in most cars.
Assembly is one of the bigger selling points of this treadmill and is super easy. Most of it comes already assembled with only a few bolts to tighten, the monitor’s wiring harness to click in and you are done.
What We Love About the Merax Folding Treadmill
Folding Treadmills are Perfect Space Solutions
For those trainees who live in small homes, apartments, or just don’t have an extra area to leave a treadmill set up all of the time, a folding model can be the perfect solution. This model has the added bonus of having a small, quiet, but perfectly adequate electric motor so that you can focus on running or walking without struggle.
Super Easy Assembly
It is frustrating to buy a treadmill and then spend hours on the floor trying to read a vague diagram or poorly-worded instruction manual, only to find out that you have done something very wrong and have to take it apart and start again. With only a few steps right out of the box, this treadmill should have you up and running in no time at all.
Decent Speed Range
We like the speed range here (from .62 mph to 6.2 mph) especially for beginner to intermediate trainees. Advanced runners might be less than impressed, however.
The belt here is not only very narrow at just 14,” across it is pretty short as well. A man of average height has a stride length of around 30.” The belt length is 44.” A running stride tends to be much longer than a walking stride. That does not leave a person of average height very much room to increase his speed in any real fashion and certainly does not bode well for anyone who is over 6’.
Only 3 Incline Levels
While the Merax Folding Treadmill does have a pretty decent speed range, the incline range is very basic at only three different levels. Once you have mastered them, there is no room for improvement. For some people, speed is never going to be their goal, and adding incline allows them train for outdoor running better than a flat treadmill does.
How the Merax Folding Treadmill Compares to the Other Models from this Brand
The comparable model to the JK1603E is the Merax Electric, Folding Running Machine. There is very little difference between the two models in terms of price or features. Both have the exact same dimensions as well as the same small belt, monitor and warranty. Either would be fine as a beginner level treadmill and would fit well in an apartment or small house.
Final Word on the Merax Electric Folding Treadmill
While it may not be a great fit for taller people and may not produce enough speed for elite runners, this is still a good treadmill option for people who are just getting started on their fitness journey, especially for those who don’t want to spend a ton of money and do not have a lot of room to dedicate to a bulky machine of any kind. Fairly light and easy to move, this one can be folded and stored away until time for the next workout. This may also be the perfect option for younger people who are trying to get into fitness, and the size may be just perfect for them. It has good speed variability and a basic monitor so that you can track speed and distance. If you need to monitor other metrics, you can use a fitness tracker to supplement, otherwise you may need to go to the next price range for an upgraded monitor.
