What We Love About the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill:
Heart Rate Monitoring
The best feature by far with the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill is its ability to monitor your heart rate. Where most treadmills in this price range only have the ability to monitor your heart rate through contact sensors, the Performance 300i Treadmill also provides the option to use a chest strap heart rate monitor. This may be the least expensive treadmill that you can find with this option. Chest strap heart rate monitors are great because they are far more accurate than contact sensors. If you’re looking to burn fat or improve cardiovascular fitness, the best way to do that is by track your heart rate while exercising. With a chest strap heart rate monitor it is a lot easier to ensure you are staying in your target heart zone.
Console
Another great feature on the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill is the console. This console has 16 programmed workouts geared toward fat burning and performance improvement. That in itself is a good number compared to the competition. But on top of that, ProForm equips the Performance 300i Treadmill with the ability to use iFit. With iFit you gain access to an unlimited amount of exercise options. Powered with Google MapsTM you can literally train anywhere in the world. iFit also gives you the ability to track your exercise data from workout to workout. This is a great console and again unparalleled at this price point.
What Isn’t So Great:
Running Surface
The one flaw we see in the in the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill is its running surface. It does utilize the ProShox cushioning system which is great on the hips, knees and ankles, but that’s not what we’re referring to. The big issue with the running surface is its size. At only 16”x50” it is kind of small. If you’re a taller person, you may not be able to get a full stride on this treadmill. Additionally, at 16” it is getting a little narrow and you’re really going to need to pay attention to your footfalls when you’re running hard. At this price range, you’re not going to see much better though. You’ll need to spend a little more money to get a bigger running surface.
Final Word on the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill:
For under $500, the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill is a great piece of exercise equipment. You’re getting a well made, quality treadmill, with great components and a great console. The console gives you tons of exercise options and the ability to use a chest strap heart rate monitor. The only drawback with this treadmill is that it may not accommodate taller users with a somewhat small running surface. It’s a common flaw at this price point and if it concerns you, you’ll need to spend a little more money for an upgraded treadmill model.
