What We Love About the ProForm ZT6 Treadmill:ProForm-Treadmill-ZT-6

Running Surface

The ProForm ZT6 Treadmill has a nice sized 20”x55” running surface that will fit most users. The 2.5 CHP Mach Z Commercial Motor and large 1.9” precision-machined, balanced, non-flex rollers decrease tension to provide less noise and better grip. The deck also uses ProForm’s ProShox cushioning system that utilizes four large shock absorbers to take the stress off of your back, hips, knees and ankles. So, after your done walking, jogging or running, your joints will be thanking you. This is a great running surface for a mid-priced treadmill.

Console

The ZT6 Treadmill has a decent console, but we expected a little more, especially from ProForm. This console comes with 18 programmed workouts, which is very nice, but that’s it. ProForm is known for providing their exercise equipment with iFit capability, which gives the user the ability to track their exercise data, compete with friends and use Google MapsTM to run all over the world, but they failed to provide it on the ZT6 Treadmill. The decision isn’t because of the price point because if you read our other reviews, you’ll see that they provide it on come cheaper models like the Performance 400i and Performance 300i Treadmills. It’s beyond us why ProForm would provide an upgraded console on the ZT6 Treadmill.

Pro-Form-ZT6-TreadmillOther Considerations:

Heart Rate Monitoring

A drawback of the ProForm ZT6 Treadmill is its heart rate monitoring. This treadmill only provides the ability to track your pulse through grip sensors. There is no ability to use a chest strap heart rate monitor, which is commonly known to be much more accurate.

The other thing with grip sensors is that you’re going to need to stop running to get your readings, where with a chest strap there’s no interruption. In this price range, it’s common to only have grip sensors, but with a little work, you can find some treadmills that still provide the chest strap option. Check out our reviews of the ProForm Pro 1000 Treadmill if this is what you’re looking for.

Final Word on the ProForm ZT6 Treadmill:

The ProForm ZT6 Treadmill is a good treadmill in this price range. It is well built, had good components and is very nice features. It has everything you’ll need for a great workout. We really like the running surface, which is soft and quiet and large enough for a normal running stride. We wish that it had the ability to track our heart rate with a chest strap, but that’s a common complaint at this price point. For the money, the ProForm ZT6 Treadmill is a good choice.
